MPE donates $1,100 to local cancer treatment fund

Granby, C.O. – In the month of October, Mountain Parks Electric (MPE) helped raise more than $1,100 for locals with cancer-related expenses. For the third consecutive year, MPE’s linemen wore pink hard hats as part of the fundraising campaign. In response, MPE’s rate-paying members, employees and its board of directors donated to the cause. MPE transferred the funds to Granby’s Mountain Family Center (MFC), which will distribute the money to local cancer patients (including those in Jackson County).
Each year, MFC’s Taking Steps for Cancer Program helps approximately 40 locals with medical expenses associated with treatment costs for cancer in any form. Qualifying expenses include travel, lodging, prescription drugs and other costs. The average award is $1,500 - $2,500.
“All of us know someone whose life has been affected by cancer,” said MPE General Manager Tom Sifers. “We want to do our part to help our friends and neighbors fight this awful disease. Partnering with the Mountain Family Center was a no-brainer for us. It guaranteed that donations would stay in our local community.”
