GRANBY, C.O. – Last night, after assessing damage caused by the East Troublesome Fire, Mountain Parks Electric (MPE) re-energized power lines to parts of its grid that were undamaged. In total, electric service was restored to approximately 1,700 meters. This includes many homes and businesses between Granby and Grand Lake (along US Highway 34) and services northwest of Granby, along Colorado State Highway 125 (up to Mile Marker 5).
Currently, MPE is coordinating with Incident Command to determine when it will be safe to restore electric service to additional areas. At this time, MPE is unable to provide a power restoration timeline for specific homes and businesses still without electric service. MPE cannot restore power on a case-by-case basis to individual structures. It will energize sections of the grid in a systematic approach as quickly and safely as possible.
For now, MPE’s Granby headquarters is closed. MPE hopes to reopen the office next week and will provide more power restoration details as information becomes available.
