The Clean Power Program's (CPP) mission remains simple, yet relevant: to financially assist MPE members who install local, renewable resources. Grateful rebate recipients “pay it forward.” They too contribute to the program so that rebate dollars are available for future renewable projects.

Program Funding

Although some members contribute $100 a month, any MPE member can support the program by contributing as little as $1 a month or more. One-time and annual contributions are also accepted. Contribution forms are available at the Granby and Walden offices or online.

2024 Clean Power Program Annual Report

2024 CPP Summary

More than 1,400 contributors to this member-funded program have been investing in local clean energy projects. As of December 31, 2024, more than $350,000 had been “paid forward” by program contributors to help fund a total capacity of local generation projects totaling more than 3,500 kW. In 2024, the program awarded a total $14,000 in rebates, resulting in funding to offset 26 local residential solar projects.

The mission of this program expanded in 2024 to include supporting large scale energy efficiency and electrification projects in our territory.

We believe the use of these funds to assist in energy efficiency and electrification benefits all our members, as these projects help stabilize energy costs and benefit the environment. Our team is currently developing the process and parameters for project eligibility under this increased scope. As a contributor, we encourage you to keep track of how your funds will continue to support the mission moving forward by visiting www.mpei.com/cpp. The program will continue to offset the cost of renewable energy installations for our members, as it has from its inception 14 years ago.

Also in 2024, the Clean Power Committee voted to change its role and scope from an official committee to that of an advisory group, available if and when MPE staff may need input or assistance. The committee gave MPE staff the authority to continue to review and fund residential CPP solar rebates, as well as consideration for funding of energy efficiency and electrification projects.

A very special thanks for the efforts and contributions of the former Clean Power Committee – Todd Budin, Alisha Jones, Liz McIntyre, Seth Portner, Barbara Vasquez, and Amy Wolf.
