Since 2004, MPE has tracked Granby average daily temperatures and heating degree day information. Cold weather has a direct correlation to energy consumption: The colder the outdoor temperature is (and windier and higher in humidity), the more energy heating systems consume. In most cases, the heating systems are the largest consuming electric loads in homes and businesses.

To help our consumer-members increase  energy efficiency and to lower our power costs, MPE participates in a number of pilot programs, including:

- Cold-climate air-source heat pumps
- Smart thermostats for electric heat
- Water heater load controllers
