Becoming a Local Lineman (B.A.L.L.) High School Recruiting Event

November 11, 2026

Mountain Parks Electric (MPE) is excited to announce a new career exploration event designed specifically for local high school students and recent graduates who may be interested in pursuing a rewarding future as a lineman.

Invitations are being sent to local high school students for BALL (Becoming a Local Lineman), which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Parks Electric, with lunch provided for all participating students and guests.

This hands-on recruiting and educational event will introduce students to one of the most essential and respected skilled trades in our communities and in the country. Students will gain a firsthand look at what it means to be a lineman, the training and education required to enter the profession, and the opportunities available right here at MPE.

Throughout the day, students will:

  • Learn about the day-to-day responsibilities of a lineman.
  • Explore the pathway from high school to line school and apprenticeship programs.
  • Hear about scholarship opportunities that may help offset the cost of attending line school.
  • Learn about apprenticeship opportunities and career advancement at MPE.
  • Discover the wages, benefits, and long-term career potential available as a lineman at a member-owned electric cooperative.
  • Participate in supervised lineman skill stations and demonstrations.

Participants are asked to complete waiver forms in advance so parents can authorize student participation in the various hands-on activities offered during the event.

As our communities continue to grow, developing the next generation of skilled linemen is increasingly important. The goal of BALL is to help local students learn about a career that offers meaningful work, financial stability, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to serve the communities they call home.

For students who enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, working with their hands, and building a future in Grand and Jackson counties, a career as a lineman at MPE could be a perfect fit and a lifelong profession.
